Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20, 1964) was an American lawyer, politician and vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice president , and the highest-ranking female politician in U.S. history, as also the first African American and first Asian American vice president. As a part of the Democratic Party, she previously served as attorney general for California from 2011 until 2017 and also as the state's attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was elected district attorney of San Francisco. She was elected Attorney general of California in 2010. In 2014, she was elected to a second term. Between 2017 and 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator , and advocated for healthcare reform and federal cannabis de-scheduling. She also advocated for an opportunity to become a citizen for undocumented immigrant immigrants as well as the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, as well as progressive tax reform. National attention was gained for her shrewd questioning of Trump administration officials during Senate sessions. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual misconduct.
